legal nomad
leg-al-no-mad
noun
A cosmopolitan legal professional (lawyer, paralegal, legal assistant) whose appreciation of international cultures manifests as a love of travel and desire to bring people together. Legal nomads tend to be internationally educated, work with multi-national companies, have knowledge in cross-border taxes and transactions, practice as digital nomads who work while traveling, or are retired and willing to share their guidance and expertise with others.
With chapters developing across major cities in Asia, legal nomads aim to be good stewards and trusted colleagues who seek an understanding of each locality and a desire to connect and belong, wherever they are in the world.
Why Legal Nomads?
Many of us joined the legal profession because we are protectors. We protect our clients’ interests by advocating vigilantly for them. We protect civilized society by upholding the rule of law, which are rules we follow to ensure fairness and order. And sometimes we protect the powerless by defending their civil or human rights.
To be an effective protector, you have to be trusted. Those you serve and those with whom you work have to trust your intentions, your competence, and your efforts. Building trust requires familiarity, understanding, and time.
The Legal Nomads wants to provide opportunities for the legal community to develop genuine rapport and to support each other in their professional endeavors. Those who attend our gatherings and communicate in our forums hopefully share our core values of kindness, openness, and giving back.
We hope that if you are in the legal profession, to join us in creating a trusted network in cities across Asia and around the world.
